MORE PATEA IMMIGRANTS. Wellington, Wednesday Night. Another batch of thirty of the Wellington unemployed will be despatched to Patea to-morrow, for employment on railway formation. RAILWAY STRIKE. Christchnrcli, Wednesday. The railway employees’ agitation is threatening to turn into a general strike. The men do not place any reliance on recent assurances of Conyers. If the contemplated 10 per cent, reduction be enforced, all the men on the Ambcrley and Palmerston section will cease working on Saturday next. DEATH OF OLDEST COLONIST* Auckland, Wednesday. Philip Hanson King, oldest colonist in New Zealand, died at Wainku, Bay of Islands, yesterday. THE GOLD RUSH. Wellington, Wednesday. A letter received by the Under Secretary from Mapourika diggings says that only thirteen of the claims are at present on gold. LARGE GOLD YIELD. Westport, Wednesday. Last week’s cleaning up at Pine claim, Lycll, yielded 360 ounces of amalgam from 150 tons of stone.
