WAITOTARA.
PROJI OCR CORRE9PONCENT.J
Friday Evening. During the past few days a large number of natives have been here for the purpose of receiving payment for part of the Monmakaki block. They have also been paid for part of the Mangapapa No. 1 block, purchased by private parties (Major Wilson, of the Waikato), through Messrs McDonnell and Brassey. The total amount paid was about £3,000, and there has been a heavy demand on the resources of the town for change, the payments having been made in nothing loss than £5 notes. The post-office savings’ bank has almost been besieged. I hear that the ballast pit on the Waitotara crontract has run out, so that it is very unlikely the Ivai Iwi-Waito-tara section will be opened on the Ist prox. In the sketch of hunting at Waitotara, some words were misprinted. The dogs got at fault near Mr Johnstone’s house. It should have been said that Mr Southey who had an awkward spill, was sparing his horse in the second run. And Mr Bayly’s horse took the jumps splendidly.
