TO THE EDITOR.
[Correspondents are invited to discuss matters of public interest with fairness and brevity ; this journal being an impartial medium of discussion and advocacy for all affairs relating to the County of Tatca.] THE CLYDE STEAMER. Sik, —Respecting a paragraph which appeared in SaturchTy’s issue re s.s. Clyde, I beg to state that there was no sea on the bar to prevent the Clyde from crossing the same, had not the boiler primed, stopping the steamer in a narrow pare near the breakwater. This rendered her power-less for the time, a strong breeze blowing from the N.W. straight on to the breakwater, therefore causing the blades of the port propeller to break off. The pilot came immediately and rendered all assistance possible, and also obtained the assistance of Mr Dickson and bis men with horses to bring her to a berth where we could got at her to replace the propropeller. I bog to thank those who rendered me assistance. The priming of the boiler was the cause of the accident. Charges Bonner, Master s.s. Clyde.
