Wednesday Evening.
The funeral of the late Mr Samuel Johnston took place on Wednesday. He had boon a sufferer for some time. There was a good attendance of friends at the funeral.
Hakp Timks. —Everyone is complaining, and still there does not seem to be the same number of unemployed about the township as could bo counted a fortnight ago. With the return of good weather* and the prospect of Waverley being the Itailway terminus for some 3 r ears to come, other struggling townships have a worse chance of pushing a-hcad. It may be that it has become fashionable to talk of hard times and straitened circumstances—so many hero seem to keep up the illusion, without having had a sharp taste of the reality. F. 11. Jacksox’s Salk. —The monthly sale of stock, &c., takes place here tomorrow. The entries are not so large as usual, but many entries are often made on the day of sale. There will be a chance for some one in quest of bricks, as 7,000 of them are to bo brought under the hammer.
