[F ROM 0U R CORRES PON DE N T.] BRANCH OFFICE OF THE MAIL, Wednesday Evening. Town Board. —At the meeting of the Town Board on Monday evening, tenders were opened for the work to be done in Brassey-strcet and the Cemetery road. The tenders for Brassey-strcet were ;—C. Kinson, £6 ss; W. Davis, £6 15s; J. Hughes, £5.10s ;T. Jones, £ll 2s 6d ;W. Brown, £6 10s ; Krockat, £6 17s Gd ; S. Kennedy, £lO. It was moved by Mr Bowie, and seconded by Mr McLean, that the tender of J. Hughes be accepted.— Carried. The Cemetery road tenders were :—H. Braten, £2O ; S. Kennedy, £2O; W. Brown, £l9 10s; Brooks & Thomas, J£lG ; J. Jones, JZIB 10s ; J. Hughes, £l4 10s ; Krockat, £ls 18s ; Kinsen, £l3 ss; W, Davis, £2l ss. Moved by Mr McLean, and seconded by Mr Bowie, that Kinsen’s tender be accepted—Carried. A plan for the gates to be put up by the leaseholders of the town reserves was agreed upon, and the meeting terminated. Town Hall.— The tenders for making 30 seats, each 13 feet long, for the Town Hall committee, were opened on Tuesday evening at, Mr Fookes’s office, when the tender of Mr Porter, builder, was accepted. Fencing.— Those who have taken leases from the Town Board arc losing no time in getting their fences rcccted, and such short jobs tend to help the working man along till those better limes come, if the competition is not too keen, and labour goes for next to nothing.
