Sin, —Seeing- in s'our issue of to-day a letter, signed A. King, Sec. Match Committee, re the recent rifle match between the Patea and Waverley Rifles, permit me, on behalf of the Waverley team, to assure Mr A. King that we in no way feel aggrieved at the way the match was conducted, I should state also that I received a letter from Mr King the day after the match, fully explaining the reasons why a portion of the team fired the following morning, and that wo were perfectly 7 satisfied with the explanation. I greatly regret that any misunderstanding should have taken place in our first match with our Patea brother Volunteers, and hope that the next time we measure our strength nothing will occur to create any unpleasantness between (he two corps.— I am, Sir, &c. F. P. Fookes, Sec. Waverley Rifle Vols. Waverley, July 15th.
