HAWERA ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of Commissioners was he|d at the. Secretary’s office on Saturday. Present—Messrs Hunter (chairman), Gaue, Williams, Robson, Morrison, Riddiford, and Allan. Proposed by Mr Ganc, and seconded by Mr Robson, “ That tbe rate be Id in the £ for the current year.”—Carried. Resolved, “ That the Secretary advertise that the rate is due.” Resolved, “ That all defaulters of rates be sued for same.” A letter was road from Messrs Davidson and Milmoe, staling their willingness to become ' sureties for Mr Bate. Resolved, “ That’ the form of security for Mr Bate be simply a form of agreement.” Mr Finlayson waited on tbe Board re forming and gravelling Mawhitiwhitiroad. Mr Hobbs also waited upon tbe 'Bdard re bridge over Tangahoe,; between Tniporokeuri and Mokoia. Moved by Mr
Gar if 7 and seconded by Mr Tliddiford, That the Chairman apply to Minister of ■ Public W6tks ; to laj' off vi ■rb.i/1 through tin; Whereroa 1 and Mokoia' reserves, through Buchanan, Barrow, Hobbs, and Baird’s properties. A petition of■twelve settlers Was bandedin; urging upon the Board to clear and open up the Boonaii-road, Wliakamara. Mr Biddiford reported that whilst inspecting he found there were some repairs required on the Ta Whiti road to Mr Biddiford’s place. He thought about £3O would do. The Glorer-road would also require some attention. Austin (nn'll) road, about four chains, wanted at-' tending to at once.
Mr Ganc reported that all the roads in the Whakamara Block were in a very bad state ; that they all want repairing. The following appropriation was made: —Whereroa mad, £5; Mananapon road, £lO ; Ta Whiti road, £3O ; Glover road, £5; Austin road, £8; Ingahapo road, £8 ; East road, £5 ; West and mill road. £7 ; Boonan road, £ls. Bcsolvcd, “That the former resolution, that the Board meet only every other month, be rescinded, and that the Board meet monthly, as formerly.” Besolved, “That Messrs Gaue and Williams see to the repairs of the Inangahapc bridge, and that the engineer report upon same.
Proposed by Mr Bobson, seconded by Mr Biddiford, “That a notice be published, calling upon owners of land whoso live fences are encroaching upon the roads to clear the same within two months, otherwise the Board will do so, and charge the. parties with the cost thereof.”— Carried.
Bcsolvcd, “ That R. Butler be allowed £4 extra for contract on Whereroa road.”
Accounts passed for payment U. Butler, £5 ; 11. Williams, £2 , Pearce Bros., £2 10s; G. Pearce, £1 ; G Y. Bate, £2O 19s 2d ; Galvin and Co., £l4 19.
Tenders for removing slips on Mel Is and West roads:—W. Pearce, £49; 11. Williams, £4O. The latter tender was accepted.
