WANTED, A ROAD.
Sir, —It is very awkward to have no road by which helpless or feeble persons can approach or leave the County Hospital. Unless lie is pretty active and a good climber, it is almost impracticable for patients to get there, or once they arc there, to get away. A patient, a halfcaste, died there about ten days ago, and the body bad to be taken through a neighbouring paddock, the fence of which was broken down fas in previous similar eases) to allow of this being clone. 13lit Mr Hasse threatens vengeance dire —“ the utmost rigour of the law”—if this offence bo repeated. Possibly this threat might not deter any deceased person from going to his last home in the most convenient way, bntwhyshouhl sickorailingpersoussecking to avail themselves of any benefit the Hospital may afford, have to run the risk of finding themselves imprisoned instead in the County gaol for trespass ? It certainly militates against the uscfulnes of n. County Hospital that there is no dray or carriage road leading to it. Is this a matter for the County Council, or for the Town Board) or both ?—Yours, &c., OUSKKVEII, Patea, 2nd.
