CRISIS IN MELBOURNE. Mu SERVICE’S BILL REJECTEDEXPECTED DISSOLUTION. Melbourne, Fridtiy. The Assembly have thrown out Mr Service’s Reform Bill by 4o to 41, Williams, Nixon, Sergeant Gaunson, and Sir John O’Shnnnnessy voted against the bill. It is expected that Parliament will be dissolved for an appeal to the colony on this bill. BRADLAUGH IN CUSTODY. THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE. London, 23rd. In the House of Commons Mr Labonchcrc introduced a motion to permit Bradlaugh, who refused to take the oath, to make an affirmation instead. A long and animated discussion ensued, lasting two days. Mr Gladstone and other prominent Ministers supported Mr Labonchcre’s motion, which, however, was negatived on a division. The Conservative papers consider the result as a defeat of the Governin^t. the House of Commons meeting this evening, Mr Bradlaugh appeared at the Bar of the House, and claimed his right to take his seat for Northampton, He was requested by the Speaker to withdraw, but this be refused to do, and ha was then ordered into -custody of the Sergeant-at-Arms.
TURKS RESISTING. London, 24tli. The Sultan of Turkey, replying to the collective note of the great Powers regarding delay in the cession of territory to Montenegro, proposes that the execution of the treaty of Beilin, so far as it relates to Montenegro, should he delayed until the agitation in Albania against the cession of that territory has subsided. HOMEWARD SHIPS. London, 23rd. Money Wigram’s steamship Durham arrived at Plymouth to-day from Australia . Per Merchant Shipping and Underwtiters’ Association; —Arrived ; The Bruce, from Lyttelton, sailed March 15. THE CRICKET TOUR. London, 23rd. The cricket match Australians v. eighteen of Birmingham at Aston Park was continued to-day. The weather was showery throughout the day. The Home team went "in for their first innings, and were all put out for 88 runs. The bowling of the Australians was dead on the wickets. The homo team being 01 behind followed their innings, and when the stumps were drawn they had lost one w’ckct for 20 nins .—24th.—The match terminated in favor of Australians in one innings.
