KAKARAMEA.
[from our correspondent.]
Town Butchery. —Saturday last witnessed the opening of Mr W. Brodie’s new shop, fronting High-street, designed by himself, and erected by Mr Hill. In point of size'and arrangement, it is really a credit to architect and builder, and is not surpassed by any of the like kind within a radius of—say a good many miles. Splendid beef, wanting only the holly decoration to make one think of Christmas-time; mutton of the finest quality, artistically dressed ; and good dawy-fed pork, were on view, and, I am glad to say, gradually disappeared towards closing time, proving that the public appreciated the new enterprise. Mr Brodie will be able in a few days to supply the district with bread. The Snowball Christy Minstrels are practising for the entertainment to be given in aid of the Institute. If circumstances will permit the affair will came off towards the end of the month., cation of the date and programme will appear in the Mail. The School Committee held a meeting on Friday last, Messrs Clover, Payne, Paterson, Salmon, : and Hawken being present. The business was routine.
