PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting- of this Board was held at Kakaramea, on Monday. Present—Messrs Chapman, Mcßae, Ball, Peacock, Hamilton, Hurley, and Paterson. Proposed by Mr Hurley, seconded by Mr Peacock, “ That Mr Meßac be elected chairman of the Board.” Amendment proposed by Mr Hamilton, seconded by Mr Ball, and carried by 3 to 2 votes, “That Mr Chapman bo elected chairman of the Board.” Letter read from the Chairman of the Hawcra Road Board re land revenue. Proposed by Mr Paterson, seconded by Mr Ball, “ That the letter lie on the table till next meeting.” —Carried. Letter read from Mr R. Robertson, objecting to the deviation of Wilson Road. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Peacock, and carried, “ That the Board cannot entertain the objection of Mr Robertson to the proposed deviation of Wilson Road.” Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Hamilton, “That any two members sign cheques.”—Carried. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Paterson, “ That last year’s balance-sheet be published once in the Patea Mail.”— Carried. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Hurley, “That the Board meet at the Kakaramea Town Hall on the second Thursday in every alternate month, at 2 o’clock.”—Carried. Proposed by Mr Mcßae, seconded by Mr Hamilton, and carried, 11 That any two members be authorised to expend a sum not exceeding £3 on urgent work.” Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Ball, “ That the Board do now strike a rate of fourpence in the pound on all rateable property within the district for the period commencing 14th June, 1880, and ending on the 31st March, 1881, such rate to be deemed payable on Juno 15, 1880, at the office of the Board.”— Carried.

Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Hamilton, “ That in the opinion of the Patea West Hoad Board, it is highly necessary to advertise for tenders for a secretary for the ensuing year, to enable this Board to keep down expenses; the lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted,” Amendment, proposed by Mr Mcßae, “ That Mr Dale be appointed secretary, at £25 per annum ; the meetings to be held every two months ; half the amount to be charged to deferred payment grant.”— Carried by 4 to 3 votes.
