TO TEE “ MAIL." CRY OF THE UNEMPLOYED. Christchurch, Monday. A meeting of unemployed was held in Cathedral Square this morning, 250 being present. A committee was appointed to petition the American Government to help them to emigrate to America. COLLIERY ACCIDENT. Westport, Monday. A serious accident is reported at the Westport Colliery Company’s works. The particulars to hand are very meagre, but i fc appears a serious mishap has occurred to the incline. I)3 T which coals are conveyed from the side of the mountain where the works are situated to ships’ side. Damage to the extent of several thousands of pounds is said to have been caused.
