FIJI MAIL SERVICE. Auckland, 3rd. ' The Auckland Steamship: Company have asked the G-overnmentfor a subsidy of £2500 for a monthly service between this colony and Fiji. STEAMSHIP FROM LONDON. Christchurch, 3rd. The steamer Norfolk, chartered by the New Zealand Shipping Company, is expected to arrive at Lyttelton about the 15th inst. She has neaily three hundred passengers on board. BUTCHERS IN TROUBLE. Auckland, Friday. Disgusting revelations are made that at the city abattoir pigs have been kept a week feeding on a heifer that had died of cancer.
