Tuesday, before Captain Wray. DRUNK. Henry Williams, an aged man, pleaded guilty to being drunk aud incapable in Taranaki road on Monday afternoon. Dismissed with a caution. CIVIL CASES. TAPLIN V. HANKIN. Mr S. Taplin, storekeeper, applied for a judgment summons against the defendant, a printer at Wellington, formerly in Carlyle. Believed the defendant has been earning £5 a week, and is in regular employment. A previous summons had been served on one of defendant’s sons by mistake. The amount of claim is £6 15s 3d. The Court ordered the amount to be paid, with costs, within 14 days, or in default the defendant to bo imprisoned for 14 days. TAPLIN V. WILLIAMSON. Mr S. Taplin claimed £4l IGs on a promissory note at four months, accepted by Francis Williamson and drawn on D. Carroll. Also interest duo to date. Defendant kept the Mamitahi Hotel, then went to Wanganui, but left for Wellington a day before the summons was received by the local bailiff. Summons bad been now served at last place of abode. The Court ordered amount to be paid, with costs £2 Gs ; total £44 Gs TAPLIN V., NGAPAKI. Mr S. Taplin claimed £6 9s from a native named Ngapaki. Defendant said he owed £4 19s, and objected to the interest charged during three years. Ho admitted having had articles to the value of £4 19s. Mr Taplin’s bill stated that 10 per cent, is charged on overdue accounts. The goods were obtained three years ago. Mr Williams acted as interpreter. Defendant now asked for two months to pay in. Mr Taplin consented. Judgment accordingly, with costs 12s, and interpreter's fee £1 Is ; total £8 2s. TAPLIN V. D. CARROL, Plaintiff claimed £l6 11s on a promis" nory note, dishonored.. No appearancejudgment for amount claimed, with costs 15s. WHELAN V. E. HILL. Mr Whelan, storekeeper, Carlyle, claimed £5 8s 3d for goods supplied to defendant, residing at Kakavamca. Judgment by default, with 10s costs.
