ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
[We are at all times ready to give expression to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments of our correspondents.] {To the Editor of the Patea Mail.) Sir, —Mr Kenah seems under the impression that the Wellington Highways Act makes no provision for auditing accounts, but he must not have understood what I stated at the nomination of Wardens. I (in reply to a question of a ratepayer) informed the meeting that the accounts were audited annually by the Government Auditor, but were not -published ( i.e ., advertised), as there was no provision in the Act directing that to be done. He will, therefore, see that under the above mentioned Act the expenditure of monies may not “ be kept completely shrouded in mystery.”—l am, &c., GEO. 8. BRIDGE. Wavcrley, March 6th, 1880.
