There’s a row between the Charleston Herald and the Lyell Times, and this is how the lormer goes for its opponent : " So that despised popinjay who is continually annoying the world with his 4 blathering’ through the Lyell Argus, and more recently the Lyell Times, is again desirous of being paraded before the people, by having made a fresh attack upon us. lie this time ‘ reaches ’ for our travelling correspondent, whose scribbling, be says, has given him the stomach ache. Were Mr Madcalf in a position to go to Wellington, and did he dare to approach our reporter on the streets of the city, there is a great possibility that our representative would administer a severe shock upon that part of the 4 Innocent’s’ body facing westward, and which would immediately relieve him of the pain in the abdomen he now complains of.” The Wanganui Chronicle of Monday says ;—The Police on Saturday night were actively taking names of obstructionists at the corner of Kidgway Street and the Avenue, and the result was that the traffic was very little impeded. The Magistrate, on Saturday, said be would inflict a fine of 5s in every case of obstructing the footpath brought before him, and as the cost of about 7s are added, it becomes rather an expensive amusement to loaf about the street corners.
