HAWERA.
(FI’.OM OUII OWN COIIIIKSt’ONDENT.) January 23. The Bazaar in aid of the Roman Catholic Church came off on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday last. The attendance was not particularly good, but I believe the majority of the goods were disposed of. The Waihi Band gave selections on Wednesday evening, under the able* leadership of Mr Dixon, adding a good deal to the amusement and enjoyment of those present. A concert was held on Thursday evening, in connection with the above, the attendance being very good. The performers acquitted themselves very creditably, but I could not let it pass without saying a few words about, a lady whose assistance tended so much to make the concert a success. I mean Mrs Foster (who is staying in the township for a few days). Her power over the piano in one or two difficult pieces that she played, proved that she was no mean amateur, and deserved the applause that she was greeted with. I am given to understand that Mrs Foster will try and get up another concert while she is here ; if so, I trust her efforts will be crowned with the success she deserves.
