WAIHI.
[>KU.M A COIIU K.SL’OXDKNT.] 'rut: Armed Constabulary at Wniiii Station have formed a Rifle Association, and at present have about fifty members. The iirst competition took place on the 15th January, for the bronze medal awarded by the New Zealand Rifle Association, which was won by Sub-Inspector Taylor, by a score of 7G points out of a possible IUQ. There were 40 competitors. Col. Roberts made some very good shooting, lie being Ibe only one that did not make a miss at any range. 'There is no doubt hut that the A.C. from this station will send to Nelson to the annual meeting a very strong team, and I am sure will bring some of the best prizes back to Waihi. The A.C. at this station “fancy ” themselves, and if there are any local associations down your way think they can “wipe us out,” just let them try"! We hope to send six men from here to represent the Waihi Association at Nelson, in March, provided we are not “ on the Plains.” The mmi here are trained in “ pick and shovel” work as well as with the rifle, and will no doubt prove themselves good workers if they arc to go road making. 'They are not proud or lazy ; they can shoot and they can work.
