Present —Messrs Mason (chairman), Milne, Thurston, and McDonald. —Mr Scott (the master) attended and explained the principal on which lie wished prizes to be given—viz., according to the work done during the last halfyear. He had kept a daily account of the number of marks to which each pupil was entitled to in Ihoseveral subjects—English, geography, history, and arithmetic^ —and proposed giving a prize to the highest aggregate in each class for each subject, and also to any scholar who scored two seconds. The parents of the children have been invited to attend the public examination. A treat has been arranged for the children after the examination, after which the school will break up for the Christmas holidays.

The Town Hall reserve has been vested in the Local Board, the public notification having appeared in the Government Gazette. “ Score one for the town.” I see by the Wanganui Chronicle of today's date, that Mr Winchcomb is president of tho Sports Committee. This surely is a mistake, for I have attended both emetines of the Committee, but no mention was made of a president. —lust modus in rebus.
