'(Per Press Agency.) WELLINGTON. November 11. A Maori woman named Amelia Patrika •was killed to-day opposite the Brandi ‘Hotel. She was riding in a cab driven by 'Frank Desmond, when the horse got frightened and bolted. The driver slipped off, and escaped with a broken ankle. The woman jumped, and her head struck a •post. She died in five minutes from •concussion of the brain. She comes from Wanganui, and is a cousin of Majo ■Kemp’s. It is understood that the Maori Representation Bill will.probably be dropped, and that a special provision will be made in the 'Qualification of Electors Bill to give the -Maoris a ratepaying franchise. The Legislative Council is expected to strike out the •‘alteration made 'by the Lower House rergarding female franchise, giving women •‘simply a vote as ratepayers, when entitled ’to : it on’that‘qualification* The Regulation of •Elections BillWill be f sothdtvhat modified. .
