VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
A rifle match between seven men of the Wairoa Light Horae, and seven men from No. 2 Company Patea Rifles, was : fired on Saturday last, each Company Using their own Range. The Wairoa Light Horse were represented by Sergt.-Major Howie on the Carlyle Range. The weather was most unsuitable for rifle shooting, heavy rain falling during the progress of the match, in consequence of which the scores mode by both Companies wore considerably below the Average. A two-leaf target was used throughout'. Appended are the scores, by which it will be seen that the Wairdas were winners by live points: — 1 No. 2 Co. Carta’le Rifles. 150 200 800
