CARLYLE TOWN BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday last. Present —Messrs Milroy (chairman), Aitchison, Adams, Dale, Taplin, and O’Sullivan. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed.
A letter was read from the Bank New Zealand, again calling the Board’s attention to its over-draft (£57 5s lid), and requesting that it be rectified. Proposed by Mr Aitchison, seconded by Mr Adams, and carried, “That the Chairman be authorised to agree to the applications contained in the letter of Mr H. E. P. Adams, re sub-leases and mortgage.” Proposed by Mr Adams, seconded by Mr Taplin, “That the Fire Brigade’s application for permission to erect a fire-bell on junctions of Taranaki Road, Cainbridgestreet, and Dorset-street, be granted.”— An amendment was proposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Milroy, and carried, “ That the Carlyle Fire Brigade be allowed to erect temporarily a fire-bell upon Section No. 7, Block 40, Carlyle, the site to be pointed out by the Public Works Committee;”
The Public Works Committee having reported on the various works requiring immediate attention, it was proposed by Mr Dale, seconded by Mr Milroy, and carried, “ That the report re proposed expenditure be adopted ; tenders to be called for the different works, as funds are available, by the Public’ Works Committee.” Accounts were passed for pa3 r rfient; and the meeting ddjoilrned;
PATE A EAST ROAD BOARD. The monthly meeting of the above Board was Held on Saturday last. Present— Messrs Honeyfield (chairman), Drake; Hurley, arid W. Gower; Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. .A letter was read from J. Nicholson, Wlieriuakura; calling the Board’s attention to a resoldtidu passed by it over twelve nidntlis ago, to plough arid form the road leading bis,house.’
. Resolyed “That Mr Nicholson be informed that the Board cannot undertake the works required by him at the present tinie; owing to works' already undertaken covering the amount of money at the disposal of the Board.” , ..... The. foliowiiig tenders were received for works on Little Taranaki Road : —D. Foley, £49 10s ; H; McLaughlin, £59 ; Sangster and Mercer, £39 18s | P. Murphy, £39 (accepted). Accounts were passed for payment; and the meeting adjourned.
