WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
The usual monthly mooting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present —Wardens Bridge (chairman), Lupton, lon, M'Lean, and Fleming. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Treasurer’s balance, £223 10s Bd. J. Riddell applied to the Board to repair the bridges on ids road thatjuul been injured by the late fresh. Proposed by Mr M l Lean, seconded by Mr Fleming, and carried,—“ That Mr lon accompany the foreman, to inspect the bridges, and send an estimate of cost of repairing the same to the chairman ; and that the chairman be empowered to authorize an expenditure upon the same, not exceeding £20.” Proposed by the Chairman) seconded by Mr Fleming, and carried, —“ That the foreman get the gravelled road past Dickie’s repaired;” Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr M'Leaiij and carried, —“ That the following construction orders be made : ‘ The Wairoa Highway Board having examined the deposited plan, section, and specifications for the.proposed road-on the south side of the Kohi Stream, arid no objections having been made respecting such road, hereby order it to be constructed according to the line shown by such plan, section, and specifications.’ ” Proposed by Mr M‘Lean, seconded by Mr Lupton, and carried, —“ That the road up Taylor’s Hill, and the hill up the north side of the Karahaki, be deviated, so as not to be steeper than 1 in 13.” Proposed by Mr Lupton, seconded by Mr M‘Lean') and carried, —“ That the chairman .affix the seal of the Board to the construction order made to-day, and also to the notices of deviation at the Kohi Education Reserve, Broughton’s section, Oika Pah, Williamson’s Spur, on ridge in section 387 (block IX), Taylor’s Hill, and hill on north side of Karahaki,”
The following tenders were received : Bush Falling, Block Vlll.—Hawkins and Keiton, 15s per chain (accepted); Jeffcott and Alexander, 17s ; M‘Lean and Harrison, 34s 6d ; Joseph Hughes and M‘Donald, 20s ; Belling, 22s 6d (declined). Bush Falling, Block IX.—Hawkins and Keiton, 15a per chain (accepted) ; Jeffcott and Alexander, 17s ; M'Lean and Harrison, 34s 6d ; Joseph Hughes and M'Donald, 25s ; Belling, 22s 6d (declined).

Formation near Tyree's.—Jas; Hughes, 27s Gd per chain (accepted); M‘Domtld and Jones, £l6 10s (declined). Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr M'Lean, and carried, —“ That the resolution passed last meeting re increase, of foreman’s salary be rescinded. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Fleming, and cairied, —“That the Foreman of Works’ salary be increased £lO, to be charged to the deferred-pay-ment expenditure blocks Viil and IX.” Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mr. Lupton, and carried, —“ That Mr Saunders bo directed to remove the water that he has turned on to the road, and repair the damage done by bis pigs.” Accounts were passed for payment'and the meeting adjourned.
