(Per Press Agency.) WELLINGTON. September 19. Comments of the Press on the Loftus Troupe are very severe. A Commission is about to sit here on points in connection with Court proceedings, fees, &c. Annie Corbett on a charge of suicide, was discharged. Henry Stebbings, arrested here in March last aboard an English vessel on charges of forgeries, and taken back to England, has been sentenced to five years penal servitude. Nothing further has been heard of the schooner Laurel. She is supposed to have gone down.
' DUNEDIN. September 16. The Corporation selected seventy-five men f roitt the 250 who applied fdr work. These will be put to work on city improvements. Members of Dunedin Railway Employes Benefit Society have agreed to amalgamate with Christchurch fellow workers, on certain conditions. At the fire enquiry; the Coroner haying summed up, the jury retired to consider their verdict, arid at half-past eleven returned with .a verdict against Waters of incendiarism. The jury then proceeded to hold an adjourned inquest on the bodies.
