ORIGINAL CORRES PONDENCE

[We areatall times ready to give expression to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments of our correspondents.] HAW ERA ROAD BOARD, (To (he Editor of the I’atf.a Mail.) Siu, — Will yon kindly allow mo space in your columns for a few remaks re proposed expenditure of the Haw era Road Board, having heard of a petition being presented to the County Council, signed by ten land owners on (he Whakamara Block, objecting to the said proposed expenditure of rates. The amount of rates to be paid by said parties amounts to £o i7s Gd. The Hawera Rond Board proposed to expend for the sole benefit of five of tho petitioners the sum of fiaeon pounds; the Board also proposed the same amount for the benefit of the other five landed proprietors. Now, considering that all of the parties can take a dray from the main road to their properties, they must have a lot to complain of, as the Board has been expending something like £3OO to £-100 on the Noonan Road, and now it requires a few hundreds more expending before more than one farm can use a dray on the whole block; this money is exclusive of deflered payment money, 1, as a ratepayer hope that follow-ratepayers will see that such a discontented lot of ratepayers get their own, and their own only.—l am, &e. RATEPAYER.
