A cork kspondent of 1 lie Christchurch Press sends the following questions ami answers to that journal, as being applicable to (he present crisis ; Who made an unsolicited and unconditional present of over £2OiJ,OOO worth of land scrip to' absentee landholders? —Sir George Grey I Who encouraged and sanctioned the acquisition of a large tract of Crown land in the province of Otago by a certain Johnny Jones ?—Sir George Grej'. Who reduced the price of the waste lands to ss. and 10s. per acre at a time when the laboring man could not take advantage of the low price, and speculators were enabled to monopolise large tracts ? —Sir George Grey ! So much in connection with the legislation of the colony by the now professed champion of the poor “down-trod-den serf,” the working man. Who burked a Liberal Constitution Act for New Zealand passed by the Inipeiial Parliament !—Sir George Grey ! Who tried to substitute another in lieu thereof, reserving to himself the right to nominate one-third of the seats in the proposed Provincial Councils ! —The “ very liberal ” Sir George Grej T ! Who vilified and denounced the Canterbury seftlement because its leading men were instrumental in rejecting tlm aforesaid liberal Provincial Council Ordinance ! —Sir George Grey ! Who nrocured the recall of LieutenantGovernor Eyre for sympathising with the settlers in their efforts to obtain a Liberal form of Government! —Sir Who, when the second an(T present Constitution Act was received in the colony, delayed its introduction as long as possible, and left the colony in preference to biinging the, to him, obnoxious Act fully into operation ? —Sir George Grey! . Who has since tried to play ufon tno presumed ignorance of the public by confounding his own abortive act with Sir John Packington’s, and claimed the paternity of the latter ! —Sir George Grey ! Who refused the Commissioners the use of the Government steamer, on the plea of danger of the natives, when in reality tho vessel was wanted to convey him upon an election stumping tour round the colony ! —Sir George Grey. Who tried to veto a liberal Land Act after it has been passed by his own Government! —Sir George Grey ! Who promised to put 70,000 of the working classes upon the electoral rolls, and ofter carrying a Bill though Parliament for this purpose withdrew it because he was not allowed to swamp a number of Northern constituences by his dual Muon vote ! —Sir George Grey.

Who lias committed the colony to a quarter of a million of railway expenditure not authorised by Parliament !—Sir ‘George Grey 1 Who allowed one of his Ministry to pro- ‘ ceed to England to arrange a gigantic land speculation, on his own account, at a cost to the public of £2OOO?—Sir George Grey ! Who, after all his previous tergiversation and mal-administration of the affairs of the colony, proposes to perpetrate a stupendous insult upon the whole of Canterbury by professing a desire to represent a portion of (ho colony he has systematically traduced and slandered from the foundation of the settlement to the present time ?—Sir George Grey ! ! !
