WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present — Wardens Bridge (chairman), McLean, lon, Fleming, and Lupton. Minutes ot previous meeting read and confirmed.

Treasurer’s Balance, £24 19s 9d, Dr. The Foreman of Works’ report was read and received.

The Chairman informed the Board that he had instructed the Collector to sue for all unpaid rates at once. T. Wicks applied to have the road improved to his land. A. Dickie & Mulrack applied to have a temporary bridge built across the Momahaki, to Block IX. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Fleming, and resolved, “ That Messrs Dickie & Mulrack’s offer to erect a bridge be accepted, provided it does not cost more than £25, and is passed by the Foreman.” Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr McLean, and carried, “ That tenders be invited for clearing the hush down Williamson’s spur to Momahaki, both tracks, through 387, round section 15, Block IX, and through the back of Block VIII. to the open.” Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr McLean, and carried, “ That the

Foreman report upon the road from 387. to section 15, Block IX., and that- the Chairman act upon his report:” Proposed by Mr Lnpton, seconded by Mr lon, and carried, “ That tenders be invited by next meeting for forming ti road 30 feet wide, and about 15 chains in length, opposite section 270.” Proposed by Mr Lnpton, seconded by Mr Fleming, and carried, “ That about 80 yards of road near Saunder’s lower gate be formed 24 feet wide, with earth or sand from adjacent rises.” T. Harris applied to have the road in front of Broughton’s section formed. Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded by Mr Mr Fleming, and lost, “ That the deviation line of .road in front of Broughton’s sertion, as laid off by the Foreman be gazetted.” Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Lnpton, and carried, “ That the discussion upon the above be adjourned to next meeting.” Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mr Lnpton, and carried, “ That the road through the swamp between Stewart’s and McDonald’s be formed twenty-four feet wide.” Proposed by Mr Lnpton, seconded Mr Mclean, and carried, “ That tenders be invited by the 9th instant, for the work on Cemetery Road, according to the Foreman’s report.” Proposed by Mr lon, seconded by Mr Lnpton and carried, “ That Messrs Bridge and Lnpton be appointed a committee to open and accept above tenders subject to certain restrictions.” Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr lon, and carried ‘‘ That a man be sent to clear slips off Karahaki Road. Tenders for cutting to Kobi School —J. Hughes, £7 10s, accepted; W. Davies, £lO 8s; Rolfe, £ll. Tenders for clearing stumps to Province Line—J. Howie, 8s per chain; Rolfe, 8s fid; Davis, 10s; Hughes, 15s.

Proposed by Mr lon, seconded by Mr McLean, and carried, “ That tenders for clearing stumps be rejected.” Proposed by Mr Lupton, seconded by Mr McLean, and carried, “ That Mr lon keep the Kohi and Karabaki Roads clear of slips.” Proposed by Mr lon, seconded by Mr Lupton, and carried, ‘‘ That the work on Kenah’s Road be not let at present. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr McLean, “ That the sum of £2OO be appropriated for the purpose of making roads to or on the Motnahaki Block.”
