WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
The moutlii/ meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present—Wardens Bridge McLean,. Lupton, and' Fleming. Minnies of previous meeting road- and confirmed. Treasurer’s balanco* £lB 7s 8d (dr). W. Lind applied to have Upper Road made to No. vm Block, Momabakn.Deferred until plan is returned from Wellington. J. W. Kenalr received permission to erect a gate on . the road past his land, provided he removes it upon one month’s notice?. , * ’
Proposed by the- Chairman, seconded by Mr McLean, and carried, “ That the Waverley Town Board be informed that this Board proposes gravelling their portion of the Lower Maugitangi Road to the mill, and that they be asked' if they" will gravel their portion to Robinson’s.” Proposed by Mr- McLean, seconded by Mr Lupton, and carried, “ That the Foreman of Works get the lines cut on the road through Harris’ and Thomas’, and in front of Broughton’s section, and report upon the levels at the next meeting,” Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded by Chairman, and carried, “That tenders be invited by next meeting for the cutting at the Kohi School Reserve, and clearing road of stumps.” Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded bp Mr Lupton, and carried, “ That the Foreman of Works get the slips cleared off the Kohi Road.”
Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Chairman, -and carried, “ That the Foreman of WTorks get some toi tol or fern put on the Oika culvert, and the slips cleared off the hill.” Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded by Chairman, and carried, “ That the Foreman of Works report upon Kenah's Road at next meeting.” Proposed by Mr Lupton, seconded by Mr Fleming, and lost, “ That the Foreman of Works prepare specifications by next meeting .for the work required on the road between Cheyne’s and Peat’s,” Proposed by Mr Lupton, seconded by Mr McLean, “ That specifications bo prepared by next meeting for the necessary work on the Gemetary Road far as it is fenced.” ’ Amendment by Mr Fleming, seconded by Chairman, and carried, That the words ‘ provided the expenditure does not exceed £so* be added.
Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mr Lupton, and carried, “ That Johnson Brothers receive notice to remove the gate at the end of the Cemetery Road ; H. Axnp, the gate at the Wairoa stream ; Stewart, the two gates on the road past his land.” Accounts passed and paid—Stamps, £1; Overend, £1 Os 2d; J. Hughes, £7O; Ross, £9 15s; H. Dudley, £6B 10s.
