WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Present Wardens Ton, Luptoo^ Fleming, McLean, and Chairman. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Treasurer’s balance—£227 16s 7d. Foreman or Works report read and received.
The Committee appointed to receive tenders for the Oika culvert, reported having received the following tenders and accepted Hughes—-J. Hughes, £l2 15s ; Dudley and Robinson, £ls. Proposed by Mr Lupton, seconded by the Chairman, That the water-tables on the Maori Bridge cutting be cleared out, and the edge of the road lowered, and that several holes between Hawes’ and Marchant’s be filled in,—Carried.
Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr McLean, That a new dray track be cleared through the bush between W. Dickie’s and Thomas.—Carried.
Mr Kenah applied for leave to erect a gate across the road past bis land. Deferred for one month.
Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded by Mr lon, That the Foreman of Works prepare plans and specifications for side cutting through the School Reserve, Kohi, and clearing the road of stumps to the province line 12 feet wide.—Carried.
Mr Harris applied to have the road laid off from his land through the Kohi, and in front of Broughton’s section. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Fleming, That the Foreman of Works inspect the road mentioned by Mr Harris, and report at next meeting.—Carried. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr Fleming, That the Chairman make enquiries if there will be any difficulty in changing the site of the road through the Native land, Oika, and report at next meeting.—Carried. Tenders for Twigg’s Road—P. McGee, £l6; McLean and Harrison, £l7 14s 6d ; E. Ross, £9 15s; J. Rolfe, £l6; H. Dudley, £ll 10s.
Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mr McLean, That Ross' tender be accepted. —Carried.
Proposed by the Chairman, seconded b3 r Mr McLean, That the Foreman of Works report upon the work required on north side of section 270, and between sections 79 and 372.
Proposed by the' Chairman, seconded bj r Mr McLean, That a rate of Is in the £ be struck for the period 7th June, 1879, to 31st March, 1880, payable in one instalment on 9th June, 1879.—Gamed. Proposed by Mr McLean, seconded by Mr Fleming, That Messrs Fleming, Lupton, and Chairman, sign the Rate Book.— Carried.
