WAVERLEY.

(From our own Correspondent.) The Inspector of Schools met the School Committee here on Wednesday last, to confer with them re the appointment of a master to replace Mr Hansard, who has been transferred to Clive, in Hawke's Bay, It is probable that Mr Scott, the present master at Maxwell, will be offered the vacancy. While regretting that Mr Hansard is leaving ns, we must congratulate him, as I believe the change is an advantage to him in a pecnnaiy sense, and console ourselves with the reflection that our loss is his gain, A meeting of persons who object to the Land Tax valuation is called for Monday next, at the Town Hall. Our saddler, •.Mr Thomas Read, has just turned out a Wonderful collar which is destined to adorn the neck of Prince Arthur, It measures 25 inches in length, 12 inches across the breast, and took six feet length of leather to go round the rim. -l
