PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held at Kakaramea on Monday last. Present—Messrs Peacock, Hamilton, Paterson. (Kakaramea), Paterson (Carlyle), Napier, and Marchant. In the absence of the Chairman, Mr Peacock was voted to the chair. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed. Letter was read from Treasury, Wellington, stating that the sum of £l2l 11s had been paid to the Boards’ credit, into the Bank of New Zealand, on account of lands sold on deferred payments. Proposed by Mr Peacoch, seconded by Mr Napier, and carried—“ That the action of the Committee, in deciding to allow Messrs Hudson, Guy and Co., the sum of £lO, on condition that they expend an equal amount, on Upper Kakaramea Road, instead of Joll Road, be approved of.” Proposed by Mr Marchant, seconded by Mr Napier and, carried, —“ That the Board do now strike a rate of 4d in the £ on all rateable [property within the district, for the period commencing 12th May, 1879, and ending on the 31st March, 1880, such rate to be due and payable on the Ist July, 1879, at the office of the Board.” The meeting then adjourned.
