WAYERLEY.
(From our own Correspondent.) The great event of last week was the celebration of a marriage on Friday last beween Mr Howie, of Kohi, and the daughter of Mr John McLean of the same place. A large number of guests assembled to do honor to the event, and, to all who know John McLean, I need not say were entertained with all due splendour. The Hon W. Fox was to have favoured us with his views political on Friday, but owingto the happy event above-mentioned, he was advised to postpone his visit. His views will therefore, have to wait for another week, and although they arc already somewhat stale, there will probable be something good left in them, not withstanding another week’s keeping, The Library Committee have decided to commence the issue of books to the subscribers on Friday next. The Library is to be opened for issue and return of books on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 3p.m. to 5p.m., at Mr Winchomb’s office, in Bear Street. Subscriptions are fixed at £1 Is per annum, payable in advance.
