• (fuom due own coeeespondent.) R.M. COURT—Monday April 21. (Before C. A. Wray, Esq., 11.M.) Thomas Allen was charged with being drunk on the 21st instant. Fined 13s 6d, or 48 hours imprisonment. Rakau, a native, charged with assualting his wife, on Saturday, 19th instant, was fined 20s and 2s costs, or 48 hours imprisonment. Fine paid. W. Hughes charged Jeremiah O’Callaghan under the Vagrant Act, with being unlawfully in bis garden,on the night of the. sth.April- Mr Farrington for defendant. —Case dismissed. - * . '
Tara Whiti v Taplin. The motion for non-suit was not obtained. Hawara v Taplin. Messrs Barleyman and Boy' for plaintiff, and Messrs Fiizhcrbert and Farrington for defendant. Claim £7 4s lid. This case was a repetition of the one that was tried last Monday week. Tara Whiti v Taplin. The evidence was just the same as reported. The case was further adjourned in the absence oi the plaintiff. Tocker v Walker. Mr Barleyinan for plaintiff. This was an action brought for tiie recovery of £B, the value of a galvanic battery lent to the defendant. Judgment for plaintiff £6, and professional fee £1 Is and costs 10s Lynch v Broadbent. Mr Farrington for plaintiff, and Mr Barleyman for defendant; This was a rehearing on application by Mr Barleyman. Chain, £9 15s for rent. A number of witnesses were called, the case taking nearly' all the after noon. Mr Barleyman contended that the defendant did not have possession, therefore he was not liable for the rent, and he would ask the Bench to non-suit the plaintiff. Mr Farrington contended that the defendant had put his furniture in the house, and therefore lie had takenpossession, and was liable for tlie rent. Judgment for defendant, with costs £5 ss. Beresford v W. Warren, judgment summons for £2 4s lOd. To be paid in weekly instalments of ss, or fourteen days in Isew Plymouth gaol. A meeting re football was held at Owen’s Hotel, on Saturday evening. The accounts showed that the club was in funds. A committee was formed. Mr J. Cunningham was elected Hon. Secretary', and Mr G. Bnyly re-elected captain. lam afraid football is in the descendant, as two or three of the best players have signified their intention of not playing this season, the consequence being that it has disheartened some of the other playeis ; still I do not tlilnk it is going to full through just y T et. Several gentlemen met on Thursday' evening for the purpose of laying to form a Club here. A committee was formed, and I have no doubt in the the course of a week or so something definite will he fixed as regards the Culb Booms, &c.
