April 21. A r.EXKUAL meeting of the shareholders of the Town Hall Company was held on Friday (Mr Sicely in the chair), when the following 'Were appointed Permanent Directors: —Messrs Walkiuiou, Hume, J. Aiken, Norman, Fookes, Lind, and Dallam. Treasurer—Mr Walkinton; Solicitor —Mr Fitzherbert; Bankers— Bank of New Z.'aland. It was decided that a manager be appointed by the Directors.
Four sites were offered to the Compauy for the building—one opposite 1 10 school was decided on by show of hands. 1 understand, however, that there was
some slight misunderstanding in the matter, and the question is likely to be brought loi ward again on Friday next, to which day the meeting stands adjourned.
A football meeting was held on Saturday, when Messrs Thurston, A. Symes, G. Nicholson, W. Taylor, and W. liowi“, wore appointed the committee; Mr Walkinton, President; Mr Sicely, VicePresident ; and Mr Barr, Secretary. The club is in a flourishing condition. The first match of the season is to bo played on Saturday next, at 2.30 p.m.
The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee took place on Monday. Present Messrs Mason (chairman j, McDonald, and Thurston. Telegram read from the School Inspector, asking the Committee if they would approve ot having two piq il teachers in place of a second teacher, as Miss Hall was likely to be promoted to the Koiii School, and recommending Miss Hansard, of Wavcrley, and Miss Jordan, of Waitotara, for the appointments.
Proposed by Mr Thurston, secon ’ed by Mr McDonald, and carried, “ That this Committee approve of the appointment of Miss Hansard and Miss Jordan as pupil teachers, vice Miss Hall, on the recommendation of the Inspector.” Proposed by Mr McDonald, seconded by Mr Thurston, and carried, “ That this Committee vote for Messrs Horner, Kells, and Snelson, as members of the Education Board.”
Resolved, That the Chairman communicate with the Education Board, informing them that the desks received for the new school are unsuitable, and requesting them to send desks of the regulation pattern. It was resolved that the regular monthly meetings be held on the third Wednesday in each mouth.
At a meeting of the Library Committee, it was resolved that Mr Winchcomb should proceed to Wanganui and take the necessary steps to register the Institute in accordance with the Act; also that all printing should be done at the Patba Mail office, provided that terms were satisfactory.
