VALUATIONS.

To the Editor of the Patea Mail. Sir, —Can any of your readers give the information, who is to pay all of the expenses in connection with the valuations this season. It is to be hoped that the Auditors will see to all that, and let us know tile amount. I think it will be like what Councillor Sherwood said about the toll-gate question last month—that it was the means of waking up the ratepayers to a sense of the power of the County Council. As the ratepayers will have to pay, they had better wake up. What if there was a Vigilance Committee, they would bo awake then, I presume.—l am &c., NOT ASLEEP.
