CHURCH OF ENGLAND.

A mkrtino of the members of St. George’s Church was held in the Court House, Carlyle, on Monday evening last. Present (in the chair), Revs A. Dasent and W. Tudor, Messrs Wray, Baddeley, Oroft r Taplin, Dyer, rl. E. Adams, W. Derrelt, Weiss, R. Horner, Torment, and Baggett. The Rev. Mr Tudor explained the object of the meeting, which was given at length in our last issue.

Proposed by Captain Wray, seconded by Mr Horner, and carried unanimously, “ That this meeting having heard the details of the scheme tor the establishment of a general Church fund for the whole Diocese, as explained by His Lordship the Bishop of Wellington, desires to express its sympathy with an undertaking which must commend itself to all Churchmen, especially to those residing in country districts, and pledges itself to give every’ assistance and support towards bringing the proposal to a successful issue."

Proposed by Mr Tennent, seconded by Mr Taplin, and carried, “ Tliat the Vestry of St. George’s Church,Carlyle, be appointed acoiumiuiic iu iai tiiui Hie scheme general ly, and to act as collectors for the fund, in Carlyle and neighborhood. The meeting then adjourned.

A meeting will be held in the Native Office, Hawera, this evening, to consider the above question. His Lordship the Bishop of Wellington and the Rev, Mr Tudor will be present.
