ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

TnEfollowingclanses of “ The Education Act, 1877,” relating to the election ol School Committees, are reprinted for general information; 63. The first meeting of thehnuseholders in every school district shall be hold on such day in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, and at snch time and place, as the Board of the District in which such school districts respectively are, shall for each appoint,

and at every such meeting the householders present shall elect in manner' hereinafter provided seven householders to form the Committee for such district. 64. On the fourth Monday m the month of January in each year succeeding the year one thousand eight hnnlred and seventy-eight, a public m-cring of the householders m every school district shall be hold at a time and (dace to he fixed by the Board and publicly notified at least fonrtcecn days previously. At such meeting :i Chairman shall be chosen,and the Committee for the then proceeding year shall give a full report of its proceedings, and thereupon the electors present shall proceed to elect hy ballot as hereinafter provided a new Committee for the then current, year of seven p<>rqualilied as prescribed by the nfiy-cighth section of tins Act, and may re-elect all or any of the persons going nut ot office to I"; meruners ot such new Committee. Cvcry Committee so appointed shall hold office until the appointment of its successors, and if any vacancy shail occur by death or oth-rwise than by effluxion of time in any Com nitteo the remaining members of the Committee shall elect a qualified person or persons to fill such vacancy or vacaiici *s. At every meeting convened and held for the elect ion of a Commit tea the Chairman having a deliberative vote shall also have a casting vote. (55. At every ejection for a School A Committee every voter shall be entided r to a number of votes equal to the number ot the Committee to be elected, and may stive all such votes to one candidate or may dist riOnto tbrni among the candidates as lie think? fit.
