THE LAND FUND ROBBERY.

(To the Edlhir of (he Fatka Mail.) Si a,—ln your leading article of the- Illh December, a!in iing to l!:c 15 per cent, of your County (-irr.nt from line Land Fund being confiscated for Railway purposes, you compi;,-.iii that Mr .Macaudrew was auled and abetted or proatple 1 by Taranaki injlasnce in tin; perpetration of that gross act of injustice towards your.county. Having noise.-! that you make a practice of praising [?] Mr T. Keiiy as a public man, ami at lit.; same time lindingoconstaut fault f?] with your own representative, Major Aikinson, I should like to saddle the rigid horse Tor once, by referring your readers to the Parliamentary Debates of the past Session, where they will find that the Monthm- for Eganont condemned the robbery referred to in the strongest language, while your pet, [?] the Member for New Plymoalh, spoke as stiongly in favour of the iniquitous spoliation of his neighbour. I trust yon Pateans will not for a moment think that anything like a majority of the inhabitants of Taranaki County, or oven of Mr Kelly’s conslituents, approve of the part that gentleman took in the matter, for on ihe contrary, I can assure you that much sympathy is felt Imre for the neighbouring Comity, and I hope soon to find the Press at both ends endeavouring by every means to foster and cement a feeling of friendship between the two Counties, which is much more to the interest of both, than the system of petty jealousies hitherto prevailing, and from time to time fomented by the local papers, and promoted by such Politicians as Messrs Kelly and Carrington, through their hostile action-in the Parliament. Tin,; next election may stop the months or some of Patea’s enemies.—l am, &e., A. ORACROFT FOUlvliS, [Note — We have taken the liberty of inserting a few queries [?] where our correspondent speaks without authority, or has overshot the mark. — Ed. Mail.
