Mr Buckland reports—Fat cattle, 27a 6d to 35s the lOOlbs: lambs sold freely, 8s 6d to 11s; fat sheep, good quality, short of requirements, prices favor sellers. A new two storied house, being built to the order of Captain Elliott, in Pitt-street, was totally destroyed by fire this morning. The fire was arrested and adjoining houses saved by a plentiful supply of water. The supposed cause was a vagrant sleeping in the building. NELSON. December 6. Mr Hursthouse addressed bis Motueka constituents on Wednesday night. He said he was a strong opponent of the present Ministry, and criticised unfavorably all their leading measures of last session. He received unanimous vote of confidence. WELLINGTON. December 6' A movement arising out of the Sydney Chinese difficulty, has been set on foot, and a petition is now in course of signature here, asking Government to have an Act passed imposing a poll tax upon all Chinese arriving in New Zealand, as sailors or labourers, and making the captains of vessels responsible for the introduction of Chinese.

The mail steather Zclandia, with the London mails of the 7th November, sailed from San Francisco, for Auckland, on the 25th November. DUNEDIN. November 6.
