WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD The ordinary monthly meeting of the above board was hold on Saturday last, 2nd November. Present—Messrs Bridge (Chairman), lon, Lupton, and Fleming. Treasurer’s Balance £lO5 12s Id.

Correspondence included: Letter from J. Bryce, M.H.R., that Government had promised to introduce a Bill that would deal with the case of the Board in the matter of new election ; H. Johnston applied for permission to erect a gate for six months—consideration deferred one month ; application from W. Watkins to erect a gate was acceded to; letter from Public Works Office re Road and Waitotra Station. Tenders were received for Nicholson Road—W. I-Inrrc (1 to G) £337 16s—accepted ; H. Dudley, £56 ; P. Keenan £6O.

Tender for Oika Cutting, £l5O, about £7 3s per chain, from J. Bowie, was, on the motion of Messrs lon and the Chairman, declined.

Tenders were received for Kcnah’s Road, but were not decided upon. Proposed by Mr Fleming, seconded by Mr Lupton and carried, That in consequence of no estimate of the cost of the work being furnished by Mr McLean, the tenders for Kenah’s Road, be held over till next meeting. Proposed by the Chairman, seconded by Mr lon, and carried, That E. N. Hawes and others be informed that the Board at present has no funds for repairing Middle Mangitangi Road, but that the road will be attended to as soon as the Board is in funds.

Proposed by Mr Lupton, seconded by Mr lon, and carried, That Mr Lynch be instructed to impound all cattle trespassing on any roads fenced in on both sides. Accounts passed and paid—Hogan and Delaney £2 5s Gd; Keating (4 and 3) £5 IGs; Ross (L and 4) £4 ss. Meeting adjourned
