He is got by Ravensworth (imported)—sire of Papapa, Guj' Faux, Opavva, Hercules. &c. —out of Plover by Sir Hercules. Plover was the dam of Voltagueur, Malvina, Hercules, Monarch, Araminta—all good performers in the South island. Monarch has proved himself a sure foal getter, and his stock in this district (now 2 years old) are a better recommendation of their sire than any other, as they have plenty of substance, and will make good cross-country or carriage horses. Terms —Single mares, £3 10s; groom’s fee, 6s. Monarch will travel to Hawera on Mondays, returning on Tuesdays, to Waveriey on Thursdays, and back on Fridays. CONQUEROR is a bright bay, rising 5 years old, stands 16 hands 3 inches high, of immense muscular power, and splendid action. Conqueror was bred by Mrs Miller, West Taieri, out of the celebrated mare Duchess, and is by Emperor out of the celebrated mare Kate (imported by the j late Mr Jaa. Strachan). Sire, Emperor. Emperor has gained three first and three second prizes. Emperor’s sire, Napoleon (imported by J. Nirnmo). Napoleon by George Buchanan’s Emperor out of Nancy (imported) —bred by Alexander Finlay, Esq., Sandyhills, near Glasgow. Nancy by the celebrated Garnary Horse, and her dam by Scotsman. Nancy was first shown as a 3-year old, and got first prize at Hamilton, first at Balliestan, second at Glasgow, and second at Kilbride. She was next year shown as a brood mare at Glasgow and Kilbride, whore she received similar honors. Conqueror took the first prize as a 2yoar old at the Blucskiu Show, 1875, and second prize for All-Comers and Aged Horses at the same Show; and at Oaraaru the following year took second prize as a 3-year old in a field of nine competitors.
