PATEA EAST ROAD BOARD.
A special meeting of the above Board vta's held at the Secretary’s office, Carlyle,, on Saturday last. Business—To consider the plan of the proposed road along River bank through sections 110 to 114 and 1*22. Present : Rev A. Dasent (chairman), Messrs Gibson, A. Gower, W. Gower and Derrett. The request signed by the Chairman and Mr Gibson for a special meeting to be held was read. Also for special meeting to be held on the 21st instant to receive tenders.
Letter from F. O’S. McCaithy, stating that ho would give £4O towards the bridge or culvert if the road was put along his boundary as pointed out by him on the plan. Mr McCarthy was also in attendance and gavewsxplanations. Proposed by Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr W. Gower, and carried, “ That the Board approve of the road laid off by Messrs Fraser and Tregear, subject to the alterations made by the Board, this day, through sections 114, 113, 122, and shown in pencil on the plan.” Proposed by Mr Derrett, seconded by Mr Gibson, and carried, “ That Captain Wray’s offer of £IOO towards construction of bridge across creek in proposed road, subject to its commencement within one year from date, be accepted.” Proposed by Mr Gibson, seconded by Mr Derrett, and carried, “ That the Secretary be instructed respectfully to request the Government to reserve the portion of the Ferry Reserve, Section 9&, and marked A in red on the pi an, forwarded by Mr Fraser, as a reserve for the purpose of placing timber and other material upon for the repairs of bridge and roads, there being no land reserved adjoining the P'atea bridge for this purpose, and the placing of timber and material oa the road is dangerous to traffic.” The meeting adjourned.
