HOUSE OP EEI’IIESENTATIVES. WELLINGTON. September 27. At 7.30 last nigbt, tbo House resumed on the Electoral Bill, and after some discussion; the report of the committee on the Bill was carried on the voices, and third reading lixod for to-day. The"'House then, went into committee on the Land 'fax Bill. Before proceeding with business, considerable discussion ensued. Ultimately the committee g'ot as far as clause 2, which was amended as follows, “ Improvements moan houses and buildings, and include fencing’, planting, draining of lands, laying down in grass and pasture, and any benefit which is unexhausted at the time of the valuation.

Progress was reported, and tiro House adjourned at 2.5 p.m.

The House met this afternoon.

lii reply to Mr Wakefield, Government said that £50,000 was deducted from the subsidies to local bodies for hospital and charitable aid, under the authority of the Financial Arrangements Act, 1876. The Electoral Bill was read a third time, and passed without oppositou. The House went into committee on the Laud Tax Bill. In clause 3, Mr Whitaker proposed that the proceeds of the laud tax ami land sales, should he created a separate fund, to bo applied to meet the interest and loans, and for public works. The new loan charges to be met by an increase of the laud tax. Also for general principle of valuation lo be laid down by the House, and a general system valuation undertaken by Government. The debate continued till 5.30.
