ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
[Wi! are at all times ready to give expression to every shade of opinion, but in no ease do wc hold ourselves responsible for the sentiments of our correspondents,] WASTE LANDS BOARD. {To Ihti Editor of the, Patica Mail.) Sin, —If my njemory serves me aright. Sir George Grey, during the recess of Parliament, talked about abolishing Waste Lands Boaids; but not having seen anything more about the matter, 1 would lixe you to answer a few questions. 1. Are the members elective or nominees. 2. How long to serve. 3. What hours do they meet, and how often. 4. What wages do they get (if any). 5. When and by whom do they get paid. G. What wages does the Secretary receive.
1 think if the members get paid, Captain Wray ought to get something as well, as I think ho deserves it as much as any New Plymouth member ; but being a Patea man, ho is supposed to have the honor of doing it for nought, 1 suppose. Was not Sir G. Grey going to put some responsible official in each district, in lieu of Waste Lands Boards. Why should not we have a responsible person in the Patea County to manage the waste lands here. — I am, &c., MILES’ BOY.
