(Ter Press Agency.) WELLINGTON. August 23. It is understood that Lough’s sentence in recent private still case, has been commuted to three months'' imprisonment. The Public Works Statement will, in sill prubabilty, be delivered on Tuesday next. Government will telegraph it to newspasors. FOXTON. August 23. At the coroner’s inquest to-day, on the body of Mrs Itichard Taylor, who jumped overboard from the steamer Jane Douglas, a verdict of manslaughter was returned against the nurse and purser of the steamer, who had been sworn in as special constables.
