PARLIAMENTARY.

(Per Press Agency.) HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. WELLINGTON. August 23. The whole of last evening’s sitting of the House was taken up with the continued debate on the Electoral Bill. Mr Seaton expressed great dissatisfaction with the Bill, and did not think any Government worthy of confidence that would bring down such a one. Registration all the year round was a great improvement on the present system. After objections to female suffrage and the practicability of voting, place the elections in the hands ol land rings, ho moved that the Bill bo read that day six months. All the speakers that followed supported the Bill as a whole, though takingexception to many details, which they hoped would be remedied in committee. The following members spoke—McLean, Gibbs, Taiaroa, Montgomery, Pyke, Carrington, Stevens, and Tawhiti. The debate and the House adjourned at 12.28 p.m. In the House to-day, Mr Macandrew, in reply to Mr Fox, as to certain words made use of by Mr Macindrow at a banquet in Dunedin in March last, regarding the probable restoration of Provincialism, said, if lie had used the words, which most probably lie did, it was not unnatural for him to do so on such an occasion, considering his long experience as a Provincial officer. The remainder of the sitting was occupied over the adjourned debate on the Electoral Bill. Several members spoke, all agreeing to support the second reading, but taking various objections to many details, which they intended to alter in committee. The debate to be resumed at 7.30.
