PATEA, WEST ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held at the Kakaramea Town Hall, on Monday last, all the members being present. Minutes of last ordinary and special meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence read included—Letter from Fraser and Tregear, also plan of proposed improvements on Upper Kakaramea Road. On motion of Mr J. Paterson ‘(Kakaramea), seconded, by Mr Hamilton, it was resolved, “ That the improvement on Upper Kakaramea Road' be carried out according to plan, and that the Engineer be requested to pay half the cost.” A proposition by Mr Napier, seconded by Mr Peacock, to defer advertising for tenders, was overruled byan .amendment by Messrs Marcbant and 'Mcßae, which was carried as follows—“ That tenders bocalled for works on Upper Ball Road, as per plans and specifications.” For—Marchant, Mcßae, Paterson (Kakaramea), Paterson (Carlyle). Against Peacock, Napier, Hamilton. Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Napier, “ That Messrs Frrser and Tregear lay out and pass all works of this Board, with the assistance of any committee that may be asked to attend. That Messrs Fraser and Tregear lay out and take over whatever work they may be required to by the Board, in accordance with their agreement.” Carried. For—Mcßae, Marcbant, Paterson (Carlyle), Paterson (Kakaramea). Against—Peacock, Napier, Hamilton. Proposed by Mr Peacock, seconded by Mr Hamilton, “ That Tumaba and Ginger Roads be supplemented by this Board, from £3O to £SO, owing to the amount of traffic and rates derived from same. Present road almost impassable.” Carried. For—Peacock, Hamilton, Napier, Paterson (Carlyle). Against Mcßae, Marcbant, Paterson (Kakaramea), Resolved, “That plans and specifications be prepared by the Engineers for works on Paterson, J oil, Tumaba, and Upper Kakaramea Roads, arid tenders called for to be sent in by next meeting.” Resolved, “ That tenders be called for works (bush falling) on Manutahi, Hursthouse, and Upper Kakaramea Roads.” Resolved, 11 That the question of a p-
pointing committees for carrying out works on Lower Ball, Ginger, Manutahi, Grqrsed, Lower Kakaramea, Spence, Wilson, Hukitara, Cemetery, and Warren Roads, stand over till next meeting.” Resolved, That tenders should be called for falling bush on Clifford, Hurley, and Wilford Roads. Resolved, That Mr E. R. Morgan be requested to take off ten feet from top of rata tree lying on Manutahi Road. The meeting adjourned.
