Binny reports:—No alteration in grain or produce trade. Wheat, 5s ; oats, 4s 9d ; maize, 4s 3J to 5s (kl ; Hour, £l2 to £l2 10s ; oatmeal, £2l to £32 ; barley, 23s ; butter, lid, in demand. WANGANUI. August 2. The case of Frederick Whitlock and Thomas McDonough, charged together with having had an illicit still in their possession, occupied the Court all day. A fine of £250, with tho option of twelve month's imprisonment, was inflicted in each case. Ambrose Lough, caught in the upper room, was tried separately. The defence of the servant of McDonough’s, was that ho knew nothing of the unlawful proceedings. Sentenced to twelve months without the option of a fine. Defendant's solicitor has'given notice of appeal.
