TRAMP'S VISIT.
(Continued.) Mr Editor, I met a man the other clay going at a fearful rate down the street. Being of an inquisitive turn of mind, I enquired where he was oft to. He mysteriously whispered—“ To the new Township over the bridge.” I felt for that man, and thought he ought to be incarcarated in one of those establishments provided by the good Government of this country for those afflicted with a softness in the head. With many others, I am looking forward with delight to the debate on Thursday week on “ Woman’s Eights.” If the whole county had been picked from, they could not have selected a person more capable of assuming the defensive than the gentleman who ia to act as the Ladies Champion. His world-spread knowledge of the trials they have to undergo, and his love for woman’s society, and being by nature formed so apt a Lady-killer, all tend to stamp him as an authority. Nothing yet from the seat of war. My soul is in arms, and eager to be afraid. My horse—my leasehold section for a horse—to carry me away from the din of battle. The Waimate to be surveyed in spite of all resistance. I saw several on their way to the scene of this coming struggle, who, on leaving their
friends, seemed deeply affected; and one poor fellow, slightly under the ■ influence of r, wiped away a tear with his coat sleeve, said “ Good-bye, old man, if anything serious happens to me in the hour of danger, you can collar my meerschaum” I would suggest this as a seemly time for hospital agitators to state their cause, and bring about their desirable object, which is so greatly needed. Surely in this wealthy district we could obtain funds to erect a County Hospital. Before closing this epistle, I most emphatically deny that there is an relationship existing between Pat Dowling” and myself. Pat belongs to the Upper Ten, I am only a poor TRAMP.
