WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday Ist June. Present: Wardens Bridge (chairman), lon, Lupton, McLean, and Fleming. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed.

Treasurer’s balance, £273 4s lid. Morion and Lupton applied for leave to erect two gates on the road past Recreation Ground—deferred one month.

H. Axup applied for leave to erect a gate on the road going through Ills property from D. McDonald’s—deferred one month.

Leave granted to A. Stewart to erect two gates on road leading to beach. Resolved, That Messrs Frascr and Trcgear be requested not to proceed with Taylor’s Hill and deviation at Kohi school, until they receive further instructions.

Mr James Dickie requested the Board to take steps to acquire land for a public road between sections 206 and 208 —Resolved, That the Board cannot do so at present. Air Vincent requested the Board to improve the road near the boiling down — Resolved, That Mr Lupton gets the work done if necessary. Resolved that the Chairman arrange with the Bank for an overdraft to meet current expenditure. Letter from James Nicholson requesting the Board to open road from Uika to Province line —Resolved, That the consideration of the above be deferred one month, the Board having now no funds. Unsolved, That Air Thomas be informed that if the settlers concerned in the road will suggest a practicable line the Board will take the matter into their favourable consideration.

Tenders for Tylee’s road were received as follows :—O. Robinson £2l—-accepted ; Bowie £3B, J. Dudley £33, Hughes £25 10s—declined. For Cemetery road —0. Robinson £15 —accepted ; Bowie £23, H. Dudley £25, J. Dudley £IG, Hughes £lß—declined.
